Mamma Mia!

People are not making musicals these days. This is one that many people saw and even more bought the CD. Everybody knows the ABBA songs. We heard them thousand times and I cannot hear them once more.

Nevertheless I saw the movie and it is short. It is about one and a half minutes long. The songs as a whole are about half an hour, the dialogue is another half an hour and the rest of the film is about women jumping, screaming, dancing and looking ridiculously gay.

The story takes place in a Greek island and is about a single mother, her daughter few hours before her wedding and her three candidate fathers. During that time the daughter cannot choose who her real father is, the mother is always in a state of shock and the fathers don’t know what’s going on.

I have the solution for all of you. Girl, if you don’t know who your father is just choose the richer. End of story. Life is complicated as it is, but the simplicity makes it bearable. The rest can go home.

Meryl Streep is fantastic as always and she sings great. It was a shock to me to hear Pierce Brosnan sing. Not bad, even though I don’t think his voice suits well with these songs. What about a rock opera?

Colin Firth was the only one we did not see shirtless here and we see Stellan Skarsgard’s bottom. Ok, I don’t know how the last interests you all, but it is good to see middle aged people still in shape. Also Amanda Seyfried has beautiful big eyes and a really good voice.
