The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello, John Hannah, Michelle Yeoh
An evil Chinese emperor wants to rule the world and seeks immortality, but he is cursed along with his army and now he is awake and wants revenge.
The third of a series of movies that started well, but like most of films that had success the second sequel is nothing like the previous ones. It is obvious that the producers where counting on the success of Mummy 1 and 2 and they didn’t even bother to make a descent scenario. It was just plain action and nothing more. We are ok with action when we know that we are going to see only blood spilling everywhere, but when we know that you can do something better then we expect to see something better. Rachel Weisz must have read the script before she refused to repeat the part of Evelyn.
Maria Bello was not persuasive at all trying to maintain an English accent. Fraser must hate his life for being in it. The romance between Alex and Lin was not remotely touching and I was trying hard to find a really good joke in the whole movie. You can also see yetis and from their moves and actions I can guess they watch a lot of TV.
Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are always good, because they always kick ass with style so they need nothing more to prove.
