Babylon A.D. (2008)

Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Melanie Thierry, Gerard Depardieau, Charlotte Rampling

“I’m very unhappy with the film, I never had a chance to do one scene the way it was written or the way I wanted it to be. The script wasn’t respected. Bad producers, bad partners, it was a terrible experience.”

Mathieu Kassovitz

Well if a director says something like that for his movie then it means he does not considers it his creation, but just another job. Well I agree. Seeing this film I felt that it has a nice base for a story to tell, but you could tell something was missing and I haven’t even read the book.

The story takes place in the future. Vin Diesel is asked to escort a young woman from Mongolia to New York, but soon he finds out that the woman is special and everybody wants to get their hands on her.

Damn producers! Don’t you know that making a film with lots of fist-fighting, gun powder and explosives is like any other movie with fist-fighting, gun powder and explosives? Haven’t you realized that we are living in an era that the fashion demands that people should be ecologists? People are dying to be couch-philosophers these days and you lost 30% of the human population that can go to the movies. Not to mention that making a good film to remember means a cruppy sequel the next year that ensures 70% more winnings. Do I have to do all the thinking myself?

The music in the trailer is nice, but they use it in every single trailer the last few years. Don’t you people know any other songs?
